The triathlon consists of a swim for 1,500 metres, cycling for 40 kilometres, and a run for 10 kilometres. It is held on a single day of competition.

New Zealand’s top athlete Bevan Docherty is starting a demanding training schedule to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
