Nadal defeats Gonzalez to win Olympic gold
Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal of Spain defeated Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3 to win the gold medal in the men’s single tennis at the Beijing Olympics.
Novak Djokovic from Serbia won the bronze medal.
Rafael Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-final 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in a match that went until 12:21 a.m.
Fernando Gonzalez beat James Blake 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 to move into the final against Nadal on Sunday.

Roger Federer is out of the Beijing Olympics after losing to James Blake from the United States.
He lost in the quarter finals this evening (Thursday). Everyone was expecting a Sunday final with Nadal and Federer.
