Swimming is set to be a major feature of the Beijing Olympics. The new LZR racer high tech swimsuits are sure to help set a lot of new world records. Attention will be placed on U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps to see if he can win eight gold medals and beat Mark Spit’s record. The new swimming center is also going to be a highlight.

Oussama Mellouli from Tunisia has won the gold medal in the men’s 1500m freestyle, a race which Grant Hackett from Australia was favorite to win and had won at the previous two Olympics. Mellouli won the race in 14:40.84.
Hackett still managed to win the silver medal and Ryan Cochrane from Canada won the bronze.
