Aksana Miankova from Belarus wins gold in the women’s hammer throw
Aksana Miankova from Belarus has won the gold medal in the women’s hammer throw at the Beijing Olympics with an Olympic record of 76.34 meters.
Yipsi Moreno of Cuba, threw 75.20m winning the silver and China’s Wenxiu Zhang, threw a season best of 74.32m to win bronze.

World record holder for the women’s hammer throw Tatyana Lysenko, has been banned for two years for testing positive of a banned drug.
Another Russian hammer thrower Ekaterina Khoroshikh, was also banned from competing for two years.
