Equestrian venue - Sha Tin - Hong Kong
The dressage, jumping events and medal ceremonies for the Beijing Olympics will be held in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. A cross country course in Sheung Shui will host the eventing competion.
The decision to hold the events in Hong Kong was brought about because of concerns of equine diseases in mainland China. Hong Kong is free of such diseases.
Since Hong Kong is close to the equator the events could be interrupted by thunderstorms or typhoons. A large amount of work has been done on the venue, especially the drainage systems.
