Former gymnast Sang Lang who is paralyzed from the chest down, is hoping to light the Beijing Olympic flame or at least to be one the final torch bearers.

“One of my biggest dreams is to light the 2008 Beijing Olympic flame or at least be one of the last torchbearers to pass the Olympic torch to the altar,” said Sang.

Sang was also one of the torchbearers in the 2004 Athens Olympic games. During her rehabilitation in New York, she received visits from Jimmy Carter, Christopher Reeve, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jackie Chan.

After the accident, Sang continued her education and is now working as a sports journalist.
