Rejected Olympic bid backed by legends

Liza Hunter-Galvan has been determined to run at the Beijing Olympics to create new memories for her brain-injured daughter but has had a set back after New Zealand officials have denied her a spot in the New Zealand Olympic team despite recently running a personal best for 10k and meeting the A-standard time.

Hunter-Galvan came 51st in Athens and 39th at the 2005 World Champs but has been denied due to previous form. This has incensed some of New Zealand’s Olympic Legends who will come to her aid at a hearing on the matter.

Peter Snell won the 800m in 1960 as a rank outsider but would not have been able to do so had the same rules applied back then.
