Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have collaborated again but this time with BBC Sport.

The music duo has created music and animation for the BBC’s coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games.

The animation is based on the traditional Chinese folklore tale ‘Journey To The West’, which the pair actually staged as an opera last year.

The animation includes the characters Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy who will “travel to Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium, playing various Olympic sports along the way, including diving, sprinting and the hammer”.

The title sequence has a two minutes version along with a variety of shorter versions for broadcast.
