Drivers face fines for driving in Olympic lanes
Drivers face a fine of 200 yuan ($29) if they drive in the specially designated Olympic lanes starting July 20th.
Repeat offenders could be fined up to 1,800 yuan and even face jail time. The driving restrictions last until the Paralympics are over on September 20th.

Beijing to close airport during opening ceremony
If you are coming to Beijing by plane to watch the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, don’t be late because they will will be temporarily closing the airport from 7:59pm.

Torrential rain forces subway line to close
Line 5 subway was closed down yesterday for three hours as Beijing was hit with a late storm. Temperatures increased this week to around 35 degrees Celsius.
