Beijing-Tianjin high speed rail link to open August 1st

The new high speed bullet train connecting Beijing with Tianjin will open tomorrow. The trip which usually takes two hours will be cut down to 30 minutes.

The trains were the first of its kind to be designed and built in China. Tianjin will host 12 Olympic soccer matches, so the new line will be convenient to both athletes and spectators.

Earlier this year I wrote about the possibility of staying in Tianjin, if you couldn’t find a hotel in Beijing. With the decrease in expected demand, this no longer seems to be a problem.
