Beijing fixes its English menus

Anyone who has traveled to China will know you can see some pretty funny English translations of restaurant menus. I am sure restaurant staff must feel a bit strange when they see foreigners in hysterics as they read their menus.

The Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau is set to change all that by creating a standard bilingual menu for restaurants to use.

Misleading, and often hilarious, translations such as “chicken without sexual life”, “husband and wife’s lung slice” or even “bean curd made by a pock-marked woman” have been replaced with “Spring chicken”, “pork lungs in chili sauce” and “stir-fried tofu in hot sauce”.

How about some volcano carbon fried fish?
