A Russian newspaper has published rumors that Russian president Vladimir Putin is engaged to former Olympic gold medalist Alina Kabayeva. Both Putin and Kabayeva have denied the rumors and at a recent press conference Putin said, “There is not a single word of truth (in the rumors).”

Kabayeva won a bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics and gold in Athens in the individual all-around for rhythmic gymnastics. Kabayeva is also famous for appearing in the Russian edition of Playboy magazine
