The torch reached the top of Mount Everest at around 3 a.m. this morning. The first time ever an Olympic torch has been taken up the mountain. Footage on television show the torch being passed between the mountain climbers. The weather looked cold and windy but the torch managed to stay lit.

A 23 year old Tibetan woman had the privilege of being the first climber to take the torch to the summit. I am sure now the journalists covering the event will be happy to be able to now head back to town to get a good feed and shower.
