Olympic torch relay to still go up Mount Everest
Despite the trouble going on in Tibet, Olympic organizers are still planning to take the Olympic torch up Mount Everest as part of the 85,000-mile Beijing Olympic torch relay.
“These disturbances are totally against the spirit of the Olympic Games. They are a challenge to the Olympic Charter. . . . These so-called activities will not win the hearts and minds of the people, and so they are doomed to failure,” Jiang Xiaoyu, executive vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games said.
