Netherlands win women’s freestyle relay

The Netherlands has won the gold medal in the women’s 4×100 meter freestyle. They set a new Olympic record of 3:33.76. The United States finished second and Australia third.

Germany started strong but ended up finishing fifth. China will be disappointed by finishing fourth and missing out on a medal.

Great stuff! The Netherlands put shame on both the Australians, but most importantly, on the US! When asked about their expectations on a pressconference prior to this race, both the Australian and the US coach made clear only to see eachother as serious competition. When asked by a Dutch reporter after the pressconference why he hadn’t talked about the worldrecord on this discipline, the US coach started to mutter something about the Australians being very good and a force to be reconed with…

The Dutch team were the worldrecord holders at that time…

Arrogance put to shame.
