Lagat wins his sixth Wanamaker Mile title

Bernard Lagat won his sixth Wanamaker Mile title at the 101st Millrose Games indoor athletics meet. The 33 year old, who was born in Kenya and later became a US citizen in 2004 won the race in 3 mins, 57.51 secs. Craig Mottram from Australia finished second in 3:57.90.

New Zealand’s Nick Willis finished third in 3:58.14 with American Galen Rupp fourth in 4:02.17.

Lagat won the bronze in the 1,500 in Sydney and a silver in the 2004 Athens games and is undoubtedly looking to win a gold medal in Beijing.
