Hopes for Christine Ohuruogu to compete
Christine Ohuruogu won the women’s 400 meter in Osaka last week, but she may not be able to compete in the Beijing Olympics.
Christine was banned not for taking drugs but for failing to take three out of competition drugs tests, one in October 2005 and two in June 2006. She received a one year ban for not taking the tests and a lifetime from competing in the Olympics.
The decisioin whether to lift the ban currently sits with the British Olympic Association (BOA).
“I’m number one in the world and it would be a shame if I wasn’t in the Olympics,” she said.
“I’m hoping my appeal to the BOA will swing my way now. There are precedents for it. I’m hoping that’s the case.”
