Dayron Robles breaks Liu Xiangs record

China’s best hope for a medal in the track and field at the Beijing Olympics Liu Xiang, had his world record beaten by Dayron Robles of Cuba.

Robles took off just 0.01 seconds of Xiang’s record winning the 110 meter hurdles in 12.87 seconds.

“It is such a good time; I did not expect that. Wow!” Robles said. “Thanks, Ostrava! I am very happy and satisfied. I do not know if I can beat Liu Xiang in Beijing now. But we will see.”

Xiang has had his own problems recently with a small injury and getting disqualified for a false start.
