Day 9: August 17th 2008

The small nations are really bringing the medals in now. Estonia (pop: 1.3 million) has a silver won in the Men’s Double Sculls in the rowing, Jamaica (pop: 2.7 million) has two golds, a silver and a bronze (all thanks to their sprinters in the 100m), Mongolia (pop: 2.6 million) has a gold (in the Judo) and a silver (in the shooting), Slovenia (pop: 2.0 million) has a gold (in the Men’s Hammer), a silver (in the Women’s 200m Freestyle) and two bronzes (one in the judo and one in the shooting) and finally Trinidad and Tobago (pop: 1.3 million) has a silver from the Men’s 100m. All in all considering the size of these countries a very sterling effort that would put some of the more larger countries to shame as we enter the last full week of the Games.
