Day 3 - Beijing Olympics - 13 medals in 6 sports up for grabs

A total of 13 medals are up for grabs today in day 3 of the Beijing Olympics. Here is a preview of the medal events:

10:21 Women’s 100 meter butterfly

Favorites for the event Australian’s Lisbeth Trickett and Jessicah Schipper

10:27 Men’s 100 meter breaststroke

Watch for Kitajima Kosuke from Japan and Brendan Hansen (WR holder)

11:14 Women’s 400 meter freestyle

Olympic record holder Federica Pellegrini of Italy takes on rival Katie Hoff.

11:23 Men’s 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay

US, Australia, France will all be vying for the gold. Expect a world record to be broken here.

12:00 Men’s 10 meter air rifle

China’s Zhu Qinan will be hoping to win China’s third medal in the shooting.

14:30 Mens synchronized diving 10 meter platform

2007 World Champions Lin Yue and Huo Liang will be hard to beat. 14 year old Tom Daley will be competing and is an outside chance for a medal. Watch out for him at the London Games!

15:00 Women’s trap shooting

San Marino’s Daniela Del Din is current world champion.

15:30 Women’s 58 kilo weightlifting

Chen Yanqing from China is the defending champion in the event.

17:25 Men’s team archery

The men’s Korean archery will try to emulate the women’s success yesterday with a gold. Russian and Ukraine teams will be there to challenge them.

18:00 Men’s lightweight judo 63-73 kilo

Elnur Mammadli from Azerbaijan is the current world champion and favorite for the event.

18:00 Women’s lightweight judo 52-57 kilo

Sabrina Filzmoser from Austria and Barbara Harel of France are leading contenders.

19:00 Men’s 62 kilo weightlifting

China’s Shi Zhiyong is defending champion.

20:40 Women’s individual foil

Maria Valentina Vezzali from Italy who is current world champion is favorite for the event.
