Chinese government denies claims they are restricting visas
As the Beijing Olympic looms China has stopped issuing multiple-entry visas travel agents in Hong Kong claim. One day shopping visas for trips to Shenzhen have also been suspended.
A spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry, Jiang Yu, denied there was any change in immigration policy. “China’s visa policy is formulated according to China’s laws and regulations and in line with international practices,” Jiang said. “I have checked this information and China did not stop granting multiple entry visas to foreign visitors.”
One would think that immigration would make it easier for foreigners to enter China to take advantage of the boom in tourism the Olympics might bring to China.
