China launches second weather satellite to predict weather for Olympics
China is planning to launch a second weather satellite ahead of the Beijing Olympics to provide more precise forecasts.
“It will replace the FY-1D weather forecasting satellite launched in May 2002 to provide primary services to the Games,” Zhou Hongling, chief designer of the spacecraft, said.
