Child singing star at the opening ceremony was a fake
First we had the revelation that the footprint fireworks’ sequence at the opening ceremony was computer generated, now the musical director has revealed that the girl who starred in the ceremony, mimed her song and was only on stage because the real singer was not attractive enough, the Age reports.
The girl who appeared in the opening ceremony was Lin Miaoke, but she didn’t even sing a note. The real singer Yang Peiyi was said to be chubby and had uneven teeth.
“The reason why little Yang was not chosen to appear was because we wanted to project the right image, we were thinking about what was best for the nation,” Chen said in an interview that appeared briefly on the news website Sina.com before it was apparently wiped from the Internet in China.
“The reason was for the national interest. The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feelings, and expression,” said Chen, a renowned contemporary composer and French citizen.
“Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects. But in terms of voice, Yang Peiyi is perfect, each member of our team agreed,” he said.
hi i think i missed that one haha
I suspect she was fake as well.
This illustrates so clearly the underlying differences between China and the United States. The individual in China had no meaning. How unfortunate for Yang Peiyi. Take heart, America will embrace her!
Great voice but not face, great face but not voice. THAT WAS WRONG. I feel for both of them little girls…But I think everyone needs to stop all the noise on this one, they are still little and don’t need to see or hear about about any more of this, it just keeps the fuel burning when such a rucus is made out of it. I think they were wrong also but what can we do about it now. It is over just let it drop.
Come on, guys ? What is more important: Honesty or a pretty face. Chinese love pretty faces.
The US is barbaric. When a singer did the same thing, they would disown him, and cause his singing career to crash. Chinese people are way more considerate. No, Chinese people just love the lip-singing. It is the ultimate expression of Chinese culture.
Don’t agree with what they did. But this is not a commercial performance for the two little kids. I don’t think they were taking this as honesty or dishonesty when they chose to do so - the director is a movie director, I guess they went a little bit far to make the vision perfection. This is controversial if 3-D technology should be applied for TV image for the footprints - I think that’s understandable given the technical difficulty and flight control.
Remember there’ll be culture shock when you confronting different cultures - what you strongly believe to be an enthical issue may not be taken by the others. As an example, in Chinese culture, if you don’t sponsor your parents in need, you’re unethical.
