Beijing venues replace squat toilets
I found this story to be pretty funny. Olympic Organizers had to replace squat toilets with western style toilets. In bigger cities western style toilets are fairly common, but squat toilets are pretty much the norm for Chinese.
I lived in Japan for a long time, so I can get by if I have to. I must admit though, if your legs aren’t too flexible you can have trouble! I met some travelers from Holland who wanted to change hotels because of the toilet.
“Most Chinese people are used to squat toilets,” Yao Hui, deputy director for venue management told reporters in Beijing.
“After the test events we received a lot of suggestions,” Yao added “and questions were raised about the toilets.”

Trains mostly have the squat style.

What a big mistake to replace the Squat Toilets… Squat Toilets are the healthiest way for a person to go to the toilets. Us humans were created biologically to squat in order to get rid of our waste. The way the muscles get positioned in a squat makes it easy and quick to release the waste.
In seat toilets, it takes 2 to 5 times the time to release waste, and has potential health problems associated with the abdomin and large intestins
Most toilet should be squat, with only a few seated for some handicapped individuals, but the real solution is a toilet that allows the same leg-muscle positioning of a squat but more comfortable.
It is a shame that people think they are fixing problems and in doing so create more problems. My vote is for a squat toilet anytime, get those legs working people, what else do we need to keep on getting fatter and not burning calories???
