3G phone network to get started for Olympics
China’s 3G mobile network will be available in time for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. China Mobile and Korea’s Samsung is supplying Olympic organizers with 5,000 3G handsets, data cards and nearly 3 million yuan (about 428,600 U.S. dollars) of calling fees.
Users will be able to enjoy high speed data transmissions enabling them to enjoy video and surf the internet during the Olympics.
China’s standard is known as TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access
