Torch finally lit
The torch was finally lit in the Athens today by actress Maria Nafpliotou. The first runner in the torch relay is Greece’s Olympic silver medallist for taekwondo Alexandros Nikolaidis.
Alexandros is hoping for a better result in Beijing.
“I’ll train hard and fight for the best result in Beijing,” he said.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to Greece to get pictures and had to make do with the mini-concert they had here in Xian today right out the front of where I am currently staying.
I hope the torch arrives soon as I can sit back no longer to witness what Beijing had prepared for the torch lighting ceremony that can surprise humanity.
