Gulnara Galkina-Samitova wins first ever gold in the women’s 3000m steeplechase
Gulnara Galkina-Samitova of Russia has won the first ever Olympic women’s 3000m steeplechase at the Beijing Olympics breaking her own world record in a time of 8:58.81 to win the gold medal.
Eunice Jepkorir of Kenya won silver in a time of 9:07.41, while Ekaterina Volkova, also of Russia, won the bronze medal.
