The Summer Palace would have to be one of Beijing’s top tourist attractions along with the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. The Summer Palace was used as a summer getaway for China’s rolyalty.

The palace is set on Kunming Lake and modeled on Hangzhou’s West Lake. The Summer Palace is located in the north-west from Beijing. The closest subway stop is Bagou Station on the newly completed Line 10. From there you will need to still take a taxi to get to the Summer Palace.
