Latvia beat US riders to win gold in men’s BMX

Latvia’s Maris Strombergs has won the gold medal in men’s BMX racing.
Favorites for the race from the United States, Mike Day and Donny Robinson came second and third respectively.

Shanaze Reade is hoping to win gold for Great Britain in the first women’s BMX event at an Olympic games.
Reade arrived in Beijing on Sunday and has been practicing at a replica of the Beijing Olympic course built in Manchester.
Qualifying races start tomorrow and the finals will be on Thursday.

Kyle Bennett from the United States is a medal favorite in the BMX. He said he has gotten inspiration from seeing Michael Phelps in action while watching his events on television before he left for Beijing.
