Judo originated in Japan and is popular in Korea and France. There are 14 sets of medals up for grabs, with 7 in the men’s and 7 in the women’s.

Ishii Satoshi wins the gold medal in judo men’s 100+

Ishii Satoshi from Japan, has won the gold medal in the men’s 100kg plus judo event at the Beijing Olympics.
He beat Abdullo Tangriev from Uzbekistan with a yuko.
Oscar Brayson of Cuba and Teddy Riner of France won the bronze medals.

Irakli Tsirekidze won Georgia’e second gold medal by beating Amar Benikhlef of Algeria with a shido. Amar Benikhlef wins the silver medal.

Hesham Mesbah of Egypt and Sergei Aschwanden of Switzerland both won bronze medals.

Tanimoto Ayumi of Japan has won gold medal in the 63kg women’s judo competition. Lucie Decosse from France won the silver.
The bronze medal was shared by Elisabeth Willeboordse of the Netherlands and Im Won-ok DPR of Korea.
