Elena Isinbaeva from Russia as expected has won the gold medal in women’s pole vault setting a new world record of 5.05.
She has broken the world record for the 24th time.

Jennifer Stuczynski from the United States won the silver medal and Svetlana Feofanova from Russia won the bronze.

Russian Yelena Isinbayeva broke her own record in the women’s pole vault at the Monaco grand prix.
She clear 5.04 meters in her third attempt, breaking her previous record of 5.03 meters.
The record makes Isinbayeva the clear favorite for a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Asafa Powell beat the world record holder Usain Bolt by just one-hundredth of a second at the DN Galan meet.
He won the 100 meter sprint in 9.88 seconds. Bolt was a little slow out of the starting blocks and almost caught Asafa Powell at the finishing line.
