Jingyu Wu from China has won the gold medal in the women’s 49kg division of taekwando.
Buttree Puedpong from Thailand won the silver medal. Bronze medals went to Daynellis Montejo from Cuba and Dalia Contreras Rivero from Venezuela.
China continues its stream of gold medals with Chen Yanqing winning the women’s 58kg weightlifting. She lifted a total of 244kg.
Marina Shainova from Russia won the bronze medal with a total weight lift of 227kg.

Thailand’s Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon won a gold medal in the women’s 53 kg weightlifting. She lifted a total of 221kg. Her 126kg in the clean and jerk set a new Olympic record.
Jinhee Yoon from Korea won the silver medal and Nastassia Novikava of Belarus won the bronze.
Thailand is not taking any risks with its boxers and has moved them to rural Vietnam to move them away from temptations of Thai nightlife.

The First Asia Boxing Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Bangkok Thailand was held from January January 25th to February 2nd, 2008.
Uzbekistan had four boxers qualify for the Beijing Olympics. Thailand, Korea and China all had three boxers qualify.
