The horses competing in the equestrian at the Beijing Olympics have become embroiled in a drug scandal.
Four horses have tested positive for the illegal drug capsaicin. Coster from Germany, Chupa Cup from Brazil, Camiro from Norway and Latinus from Ireland were the horses named in the scandal.

Spain has the dubious honor of having the first athlete to fail a doping test.
The athlete was cyclist, Maria Isabel Moreno and tested positive for the drug EPO. She was to compete in the women’s road race and individual time trial. She faces a two year ban and may miss the London 2012 [...]
Reuters reports that Greek Olympic sprinter Tassos Gousis has tested positive for drugs.
Gousis was planning to compete in the 200 meter sprint at the Beijing Olympics. The test was taken by the Greek anti-doping agency, before he left for Japan for a training session.
Jessica Hardy has withdrawn from the Beijing Olympics after testing positive for the stimulant clenbuterol at the U.S. swimming trials last month.
“As a result of Jessica Hardy’s withdrawal from the U.S. Olympic Team, USA Swimming will follow the published U.S. Olympic Team selection procedures,” said USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus in a statement.

Seven Russian middle distance runners, including five athletes who had qualified for the Olympics, have been suspended by the IAAF with just one week to go before the start of the Beijing Olympics. The athletes have been accused of submitting somebody else’s urine.

The International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has said that he is hoping for the cleanest, most drug-free Olympics ever.
“Let me give them the message both to viewers and to the athletes,” Rogge said. “They must be persuaded that the IOC will do everything that is humanly possible to have the cleanest possible Games.”
Bulgarian shooter Antoaneta Boneva tested positive for cocaine and will be banned for competing at the Beijing Olympics.
“Boneva was checked in May at a competition in Italy and the tests were made in the Italian doping laboratory,” the committee said in a statement on its Web site. “She drops out of the Olympics in Beijing.”
