Michael Phelps sneaks into Beijing
Michael Phelps sneaked into Beijing yesterday almost unnoticed. He took a side door to avoid fans and reporters.
A young Chinese girl waited five hours just to get an autograph.
Phelps is hoping to break Mark Spitzer’s record of seven gold medals at a single Olympics.
“I’m looking to do something different that the sport has never seen,” Phelps said a few days ago in Singapore.
The United States oldest swimmer Dara Torres, 41, spoke to reporters.
“It’s finally sunk in,” said Torres, who will compete in her fifth Olympics. “I am very excited to be here. I just want to get to the pool and start swimming a little bit.”
