South African amputee qualifies for Beijing Olympics

South African amputee Natalie Du Toit qualified for the Beijing Olympics in the 10 km swim at the Open Water World Championships. It will be the first time the event is held at the Olympics.

Du Toit lost her left leg in a traffic accident in 2001. She finished fourth in the race.

“I have always had a dream to take part in an Olympic Games, and losing my leg didn’t change anything,” said Du Toit
