Olympic torch arrives in Canberra Australia

The Olympic torch has arrived in Canberra, Australia on its Oceania leg. The torch was presented to Aboriginal elder Agnes Shea.

Kevin Rudd has been adamant that the blue tracksuited Chinese security officials wouldn’t be needed in Australia. It seems now that they have been relabelled “technical assistants” by Australian Olympic officials.

“They have a responsibility to keep the flame alight,” Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates told reporters. Torch relay organizers in Australia will be hoping for a peaceful event.
