The domestic torch relay has kicked off on the tropical island of Hainan. The Macau leg of the Olympic torch relay went smoothly on Saturday.

The first torch bearer was Yang Yang who won a gold medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

Proud Olympic supporter Jackie Chan will also run with the torch in Hainan.

“You can run fast, you can run slowly, or you can walk. What matters is you are passing down the Olympic spirit,” said Olympic gold medalist Deng Yaping, who is also on the Olympic organizing committee.
