650 boxers descend on Chicago

Chicago might not be a good place at the moment to go looking for a fight. About 650 boxers from 120 countries just arrived in the city for the AIBA World Boxing Championships. It is a qualifying event for the 2008 Beijing Olympic summer games.

“You’ll see the greatest boxers in the world on a dramatic stage,’’ said Bill Scherr, chairman of World Sport Chicago, encouraging area residents to “come down to show them how enthusiastic we are for Olympic sports.”

The event starts on the 23rd of October and goes through to November third at the University of Illinois.

Tickets for the event can be bought through ticketmaster.com
