Virus hitting athletes at the Olympic village
The Telegraph has reported that a virus has been going around the Olympic village affecting some athletes, including Britain’s Hollie Avil who competed in the women’s triathlon yesterday.
“When I was on the bike I was sick and every time I took on fluids I was sick again,” she said. “It’s not great when you’ve got sick down your arms and your new white shoes are ruined.
“I have always told myself I would never not finish a race and it’s hard to describe how I feel having to pull out.”
The triathlon was won by Emma Snowsill from Australia. The men’s triathlon starts today at 10:00 am.
