The Beijing Olympic games is set to be the most expensive ever held, with total costs around 295 billion yuan ($43.13 billion). The money spent is made up of operational fund, venue construction costs and infrastructure costs. The figure was quoted by Liu Zhi at press conference.

The operational fund has also blown out from the initial estimate of 1.63 billion yuan to the current 2 billion yuan.
