The Chinese government is battling environmental issues on a number of fronts, including closing down factories and using less coal for heating. One area which they will have difficulty controlling is the number of cars on the roads.

There are now more than 3 million cars in Beijing with over a 1000 new cars added every day.There have been experiments to have no car days and odd-even days in Beijing but they had limited success in reducing pollution.
