Well, here we are then. The final weekend of the 29th Games of the Modern Olympiad and the real gold chase begins as all those sport that take ages to get to the end begin to do so (and for my small nations it could well be quite a ride).

Iceland are through to the gold medal match in the handball (and will face France), Montenegro put up a valiant effort against Hungary in the Water Polo but will face Serbia for the bronze medal (which as a combined nation they won the silver medal in in 2004), and of course we can’t rule out someone like Mongolia in the boxing.
