Australia takes home the bronze medal in softball after losing to Japan. Japan go on to play the United States for gold and silver.

Japan won the game in the 12th inning after the two teams were locked at 2-2 after seven innings.

Australia won silver at the Athens Olympics, bronze in Sydney and a bronze in Atlanta. Softball won’t be part of the Olympic program at the 2012 London Olympics.
