Olympic ticket battles

People are having a tough time getting tickets to the Beijing Olympics, both local and overseas fans are having ticket woes.

China is the most populous country to host the Olympics. The host city Beijing has a population of around 18 million people and whole country is over 1.3 billion.

CoSport is the official supplier of tickets in the United States and it has long had a “tickets sold out” banner on the front page of its website. It is easy to get the feeling they are not looking to sell tickets to individual events but all inclusive travel packages to the Olympics.

There are reported seven million Olympic tickets availabe. Only a quarter of these will be availabe for overseas visitors and rest will be sold to local Chinese.

Demand for tickets in China is very strong with popular events being overscribed.
