Swimming and gymnastics finals to be held in morning
To keep in line with US television viewers, the swimming and gymnastic finals will be held in the morning.
“The only thing that gets me cranky is that (the IOC) have made the decision for commercial reasons, not for the good of the sport,” Australian coach Alan Thompson said.

Testing of new Gymnastics scoring system
Gymnatics will be testing its new scoring system for the first time, this weekend at the Tyson American Cup in Philadelphia.
“I think the new rules will have a great effect for countries … who were fifth, sixth in Olympic Games and will help them move up,” he says. “It could shuffle the countries around. I can’t wait to see what happens in the American Cup.”

After some problems with the scoring system in Anthen, the Gymnastics point scoring system is being updated and should be ready for the 2008 Beijing Games.
The International Gymnastics Federation decided to overhaul its scoring system after several judging errors marred the Athens Olympics. Not only was Paul Hamm�s gold medal in limbo for two months because of a scoring error, but routines that were vastly different all had the same value on paper, making it difficult for judges to separate them.
