Beijing’s latest shopping mall Joy City in the popular shopping district Xidan, is said to have the longest escalator in the world. I consulted Wikipedia to see if this was the case, but there wasn’t any mention of this particular one. I found it difficult to actually discern which escalator is actually the longest one as there are so many different variables.

The escalator takes you directly from the ground floor up to the 6th floor. Joy City has a nice open plan and a lot of fashionable clothing shops. Rather than a food court in a single area, there is a different restaurant on every floor. There is a nice looking cinema on the 10th floor of the center.
