Hotels slash prices ahead of Beijing Olympics
A year is a long time when it comes to Olympic preparations. I remember last year reading how some hotels were going to charge 10 times their usual rates during the Beijing Olympics and now I am reading reports of hotels actually slashing their rates to get customers.

Strange as it sounds, there are still plenty of hotel rooms available for the Beijing Olympics. The expected surge in foreign visitors is unlikely with less than 30 days to go before the Olympics.
Most hotels were expecting to cash in on the Olympics by charging up to 10 ten times their normal rates.
