Seal penis and China’s exotic food

Thousands of journalist will be coming to Beijing to cover the Olympics. Probably many of them for the first time. Some will probably even get out of the MPC to write about non-Olympic related stories.

My fairly unoriginal prediction for the number 1 non-Olympic related story will be China’s exotic food. Two hot spots are the Donghuamen Night Market (scorpions on a stick) and Guolizhuang a.k.a the “penis restaurant”.

The Donghuamen Night Market is a fun place to visit for tourists, but gets far too many “look what they eat in China” type stories from western media. Beijing nightlife blogger, Beijing Boyce is even keeping a tally on the “scorpion on a stick stories”.

Here is another one for the collection: How about a dish of seal penis?

I don't know... - August 15, 2008 @ 3:38 am

Please be an open minded person next time anne. There are many cultures out there that seems strange to you, as well as your culture is strange to them.

The intolerable cruelty you’re talking is just as common as any other place. People kill animals and eat it except for vegetarians.
