Several online newspapers (mostly Korean) are reporting that Korean pop singer Rain will sing the theme song at the Beijing Olympics. Some blogs are reporting that Rain actually turned down the offer to sing at the Olympics.

There is yet to be any announcement on the official Beijing Olympic website. It seems like another case of someone using the Olympics to promote themselves.

This story from J Tune Management seems more likely:

“There has been a mistake regarding Rain being offered by the Beijing Olympics Committee to sing the 2008 Beijing Olympics theme song. Rain received an offer from an agency in China to sing a theme song candidate for the Olympics but nothing concrete has been decided. In fact, the official theme song and official singer will be announced 100 days before the Olympics opening ceremony.”

The Olympic theme song has been a five year project to select the song. There will be a total of 25 Olympic songs and 10 Paralympic songs chosen as the final winners.
