Nude models “misunderstood” in China

In puritan China, I was surprised to come across this story in the country’s official mouthpiece the China Daily: Nude models fight for acceptance.

The story has some great quotes from one such model:

“Although we earn a lot, we have our own troubles, such as a lack of privacy when we work outdoors and the pressures of social discrimination and misunderstanding of our work,” Qin Hua, a model who has been working for six years, said.

The nude models can from 1,000 yuan ($140) to 3,000 yuan for a day’s work - which is a huge amount of money in China. A laborer on an Olympic site might only make $7 a day.

“I was very confident about my body, and I was attracted to the conditions cited in the ad. Qualified applicants would be given free travel to Hainan Island, a place I’d long dreamed of visiting,” she said.

Unfortunately no pictures came with the article in the China Daily.

let’s all ignore the evils the chinese government is doing - supporting burma’s military junta, funneling money to sudan’s government which sponsors genocide of black africans, and destroying tibetan culture and its people!

Nudity is just a western plot to smear the good name of China. China is rich now. Everyone has clothes to wear and food to eat. Pictures and movies with people posing nude are just lies about the real economic situation of China.
